While holding the position of deputy commander of the 25th separate motorized rifle brigade and commanding a battalion tactical group, carried out direct command of the units and directed their combat use on the territory of Ukraine. There are reasonable grounds to believe that the person is involved in organizing, directing, and directly giving a criminal order to shoot to kill unarmed civilians. In particular, on February 24, 2022, at the intersection of Les Serdyuk Street and the Ring Road of Kharkiv, he personally ordered his subordinates to open fire on a convoy of about 10 civilian cars with civilians trying to leave the occupation.
These actions, committed for the purpose of intimidation and revenge, led to the death and injury of civilians, being a component of the aggressive war of russia against Ukraine, and at the same time contain signs of a violation of the laws and customs of war. Along with this, the person did not use the right to refuse to execute a clearly criminal order, the obligation of non-execution of which is provided by the norms of international law, thus becoming an accomplice to the crime.
By a ruling of the Kyiv District Court of Kharkiv dated April 30, 2024, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for giving the order to open fire on civilians, resulting in deaths and injuries.
